Band Program

PTHS Bands include two concert band ensembles, a jazz ensemble, marching band, pep band, madrigal brass ensemble, and a pit musical ensemble. All students participate in marching band before separating in to the auditioned concert ensembles. PTHS bands have a rich history of excellence and pride that continues to this day. 

Marching Band

100 of Pontiac's finest musicians and color guard members. The season starts in late May with our mini camps and ends in October with a competition at the University of Illinois. 

Symphonic and Concert Band

Students audition and are placed in to two concert bands. Symphonic Band is the advanced band and Concert Band is the intermediate band. 

Jazz Band

Comprised of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and a rhythm section, students perform a diverse selection of repertoire on each concert. 

Indian Showdown

Each year, we host a marching band competition that brings together bands from around the state. We feature an optional clinic for bands to work with our famous judging panel. This happens in mid September each year. Please join us! 

Alumni Events

Every so often, alumni are invited back to perform with the current band. Our most recent event in 2019 featured over 75 alumni with graduation years all the way back to 1955. Please follow our facebook page for updates regarding all alumni events.
